Roots in Landour: Curating an Influencer Experience for OPPO Reno 14 5G

When OPPO approached us to craft an experience for 80 content creators to launch the Reno 14 5G, we knew this wasn’t going to be just another influencer event. It had to be rooted in something more—more than flashy backdrops or fleeting reels. It needed story, soul, and setting. And that’s where Landour came in.

Landour is a place with a pulse of its own. Cobblestone paths, cedar trees older than most cities, stories that echo between the pines — it was the perfect canvas to bring together nature, nostalgia, and the nuance that OPPO’s brand represents.

We began the day with a curated storytelling walk — a 30-minute immersive stroll led by local experts who brought Landour’s rich past alive. From Ruskin Bond’s quiet routines to Jim Corbett’s adventurous escapades, from British-era architecture to Tom Alter’s family home — the stories made the place breathe. For many of our guests, this was their first time truly hearing a town before seeing it.

Next came a forest immersion. We explored 200–250-year-old deodar trees, wandered past cobra lilies, and traced our fingers along wild Ayurvedic herbs. Nature wasn’t just observed — it was narrated. Every tree had a story, every plant a purpose.

The trail led us to a charming villa we had styled for the day, where creators could slow down and engage with hands-on experiences:

  • Artisan jam-making with the iconic Prakash & Sons — a Landour family-run store that’s been around since 1926, bottling joy in jars.
  • Coffee brewing and pasta-making at Devdar Café, where flavours danced and stories simmered.

Of course, no day in Landour is complete without a stop at the Landour Bakehouse, a rustic bakery that smells like nostalgia and tastes like heaven.

And to close the loop, we hosted a long-table lunch at Emily’s in Rokeby Manor, a colonial-era boutique property with old-world charm and warm hospitality — the kind of place where stories stay long after guests leave.

Why This Experience Mattered

At Rootsvida, we don’t just organise trips. We design immersive experiences for brands and corporates that make people feel something. And in doing so, we help brands tell their story in a way that feels real — not scripted.

In a world of fast content and faster attention spans, we believe in slowing down and curating moments that linger — through local storytelling, sensory experiences, and places that speak for themselves.

Whether it’s for a brand launch or a leadership offsite, we bring the same lens of care, community, and curation to every experience we design.

Because travel is not just about seeing a place — it’s about living it.
